Maine Youth Power launched in 2020, as a virtual, youth-led, youth voter turnout program and has grown into a long term rural youth power-building movement.
We turned out hundreds of new voters in the General Election, and built true political power through youth voter engagement. In January of 2021, our organizers and leaders came together from across the state with the goal to be the movement that is accessible for young people and support them to lead campaigns within their communities.
Like so many young people across the country, youth in Maine are living at the intersection of colonization, climate change, white supremacy, the student debt crisis, and wealth inequality.
We are building deep, authentic, relational movement where rural Maine Youth are in community with each other, talking, learning and changing the current systems that do not serve us.
