Maine Youth Power Basebuilding Coordinator

The Basebuilding Coordinator will play a key role in strengthening Maine Youth Power's basebuilding, youth engagement, and leadership. It’s through recruiting and retaining young members that the organization will grow and thrive. The ideal candidate is an organizer who is committed to youth power, movement building, and collaborative organizing. 

The Basebuilding Coordinator position bottom lines bringing in new and reengaged members to MYP, providing them with training and/or connecting them to a support person. While building out our base, this position will hold the onboarding and membership development tracking of all members and interested young people. This position’s scope is written into our new 5 year plan, the primary goal being recruiting, retaining and developing a membership base that will grow our capacity to build power across issues. 

This role is remote, but will require occasional travel around the state.

The Basebuilding Coordinator will:

  • Lead Maine Youth Power’s basebuilding efforts by connecting with youth all over Maine, including facilitating monthly membership calls, tabling at college campuses, schools, fairs, and community events 

  • Lead one-on-one conversations and follow-up calls to support new and existing members and develop tailored action plans for potential members

  • Track member conversations in our database, following skills and interests each member has and their capacity to engage in our campaigns.

  • Support fellows and members with their leadership and organizational skills, project  development, and political education

  • Plan, coordinate logistics, and execute virtual and in-person events throughout the year

  • Represent and lead calls with coalition partners and aligned organizations to foster a strong movement culture in Maine

  • Share essential updates with the Director Team and Communications Team to align strategies and priorities

  • Support Maine Youth Power’s electoral and legislative efforts by turning out youth at events to testify at hearings, draft letters to the editor, etc.

Part Time: 40 hours/week   Rate: $26/hour*

Flexible In person/remote: In person events in Maine required with virtual work.
