Maine Youth Power Communications Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator will play a key role in shaping and sharing Maine Youth Power’s (MYP) story across multiple platforms. A successful candidate will bring both experience and enthusiasm for communications work, with a strong grasp of tools and strategies for audience engagement. This role involves managing and creating content for social media, designing digital and print materials, drafting and sending email campaigns, supporting media relations efforts, and leading MYP’s volunteer Social Media Team. The Communications Coordinator will also contribute to event coverage through photography and live content creation. Ideal candidates are creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about using communications to advance our mission and connect with diverse audiences.

This role is part-time at 20 hours a week and will begin on September 9th, 2025 and go through June 30, 2026. This role is expected to work an average of 2 to 2.5 days per week, with approximately 2 hours of evening meetings. 

The Communications Coordinator will ideally work Mondays and then will be able to flex the other day that they work to best suit their schedule. We are flexible and willing to negotiate this schedule for the right candidate. Please share any questions during the interview process. 

The Communications Coordinator will:

  • Work an average of 2 to 2.5 days per week, with approximately 2 hours of evening meetings

  • Manage and coordinate all social media content across platforms (including TikTok, LinkedIn, and Instagram), and facilitate the Social Media Team 

  • In partnership with the Social Media team, consisting of members and fellows

  • Develop and implement standardized email marketing campaigns and legislative action communications.

  • Maintain the MYP Squarespace website and events calendar

  • Manage Maine Youth Power’s relationship with traditional media outlets. 

  • Occasionally attend MYP events to capture photos and video content for use across social media, newsletters, and other communications platforms.

Part Time: 20 hours/week   Rate: $25/hour*

Duration: September 9th, 2025 - June 30, 2026

Flexible In person/remote: In person events in Maine required with virtual work.
